    Hi all,

Just started a new job and the systems seem to be sub standard. It’s not my position to get his job done but it would make life that much easier.

Is it possible to share a outlook folder in a situation where an exchange server does not exist?

Any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards,
    Eóin.

If you dont have an exchange server then you're most likely using pop or imap access to web based mail ????

If thats the case your mail is stored locally as a pst file.

    Some info here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/196492

maybe it's ok now in outlook 2007, but from experience of users sharing pst files and accessing from over a network it's never been pretty.

It's not possible to share Outlook PSTs with live information. Each person will need to maintain their own copy of the mailbox.

I've managed to do this reasonably well with IMAP folders, but it's a nightmare with POP accounts because there's no way to "sync" the accounts.

you can buy third party apps to share the pst file but not supported by microsoft

or setup an imap server , but outlook is a really poor imap client , stuff like you have to refresh the view manually and a limit of 2GB

I guess it depends on how you value your time...If you only need email to be sync'd then IMAP is a cheap way to go. Stick a mail server on a linux box and
    presto.

If you need full exchange functionality, maybe consider hosted exchange? Its about 5e/mo per mailbox for 3GB of space with sherweb. www.sherweb.com
