I was thinking of doing this. Just having a day to ourselves with just a church and a photographer. No flowers, cars, food, bands or any of that crap.Probably spend some money on really good clothes like a 3K bespoke suit and likewise for her.

    Anybody else do this?

Not quite but I did have what by Irish standards was a small wedding (we did have a meal afterwards in a resteraunt) - had 15 people there.

    Hi There,

This time last year I wouldn't have enterianed the thought of getting married by ourselves.....but now I am seriously considering it & would also be very interested to know of people who have done it & were really happy with their decision/disappointed....etc....
    Were you family/parents gutted?.....

    ??

Remember you'll need two witnesses in addition to the priest and yourselves. This can actually be anybody. I know a girl who had the two events managers of the hotel sign it for them. Her justification was that they both have huge familes from Donegal and anything else would have been too much hassle. A few days of pissed off relatives was a far easier prospect than months of stressful planning.

Some friends of mine are doing exactly that today. In Australia (because they live there now). The whole thing cost under 1000 AUS Dollars.

Another couple I know had a tiny wedding last year in Kerry and saved heaps of cash which they use to help pay off a mortgage. The gentleman who got married is about to be made redundant and suspected this for some time thus the cheap wedding. I did a few pics for him for nothing as a wedding present and happy days. He wore a good suit that he had and she wore a dress from monsoon.

IT CAN BE DONE AND DONE WELL
