Screenclick alternative

    Hello,
I just cancelled my screenclick account due to the very poor service the last 6 weeks since they bought moviestar.

I'm now looking for an alternative online dvd rental company. I've found a few possibilities but wanted to see if anyone had any experience with any of them or know if they are affiliated with screenclick at all (like an post).

    onlinedvdrentals.ie

perlico.com (edit: nevermind, this one is out too! Another screenclick offshoot).

or the irish times dvd rental club (http://dvdclub.irishtimes.com/1/irishtimes/). (edit: ignore this one, I just noticed it is powered by screenclick. This one is out!).

I thought I had found another (dvdrentals.ie) but that just takes you to the screenclick website. Two of the others both look very similar to the screenclick website. I just want to make sure they aren't doing business from the same place under a different website.

    Thanks for any info.

There's Moviestar but they're meant to be just as bad. Be careful if you're signing up to any others because there's a few I've come across that's just Screenclick or Moviestar repackaged (like the An Post DVD shop)

Here is a thread relating to onlinedvdrentals.ie

If you weren't happy with screenclick, then these may not be any better.

I think screenclick are just buying up all the competition out there. Pity considering they're so crap. I've a screenclick account but they've been getting worse month by month in terms of service. Turnaround is slow and they often don't even dispatch after acknowedling a return. You actually have to email them and tell them to do their f-ing job! It's quite unbelievable.

I cross-reffed my wish-list against screenclick and everything they have off the list is available as torrent, so I'm just gonna cancel my account this month and move onto the next stage. Bye bye screenclick!

BTW, I would strongly urge anyone considering starting a screenclick account to not bother. They'll treat you like a prince for the first month or so and only then introduce you to all the pitfalls that come with this method of rental distribution.

In this era of high(ish) speed internet the method of dvd postage is archaic enough, but with you add in the two dual problem that is An-Post laziness and Screenclick incompetence then you truly get a service that isn't worth your subscription price.

I was with moviestar and never had an postal related problems, i'd get an email from them saying the next dvd had been dispatched and it would be on my doormat the next day.

With screenclick the turnaround is a lot slower - their system seems to mark a film as 'dispatched' on day 1, but it doesn't enter the postal system until day 2, then i receive it on day 3.

But...is there any alternative online dvd rental company left?

Yeah it really is a joke. Here's how screenclick operates in reality.

Day 1 : Dvd arrives at home in morning, Dvd is watched in evening, Dvd is posted back.
Day 2 : Dvd is picked out of letter box by An-Post
Day 3 : Dvd is sent back to Screenclick
Day 4 : Dvd is recieved & acknowleged by Screenclick. Next Dvd is dispatched.
    Day 1 : sequences repeats.

And don't forget this is in an ideal world! Screenclick will sometimes get a DVD back on Day 4 and not even send the next one til Day 5! Also bare in mind that An-Post and Screenclick don't operate on weekends so if any of that 4 days sequence intersects the weekend, well then you're waiting SIX days for your next title. It's really just not good enough for a service that promises so much. I also note that if Day 4 occurs on a Friday then they're don't exactly have a great record of dispatching. Clearly the folk over take the concept of 'casual friday' a little too literally.
