Engine Noise - Is it my clutch

Hi Guys, I've already bored you all with the story of my clutch last year, which is going but doesn't need replacing just yet according the my mechanic.

In the past week I've noticed a huge increase in the engine noise. When I start the engine it starts fine but sounds very heavy. This noise reduces when I press in the clutch but starts again on release. The only reason I noticed this is that it is now louder than the noise from the clutch release bearings which are pretty bad.

I think it may be the fan belt, but haven't had a chance to check yet as there's poor lighting in the car park and will have to wait til Saturday morning to check properly. Can anyone offer any advice? I am worrying about nothing?

Its a Peugeot 206 with bout 42K on the clock, no other issues apart from the clutch which hasn't been replaced yet. The car does tend to be noisier on cold mornings ( strange I know) but if anyone has any ideas I'd be grateful.
