Engine light how do you turn off

I have a hilux 3lt diesel sr how do you reset the engine light in it. I plugged out a sensor and started it the light came on and when I put it back in it did not turn off

You will need diagnostic equipment to turn it off .
Most mechanics have computers now to plug in cars but maybe you will have to go to toyota.
