Been looking into one of these for a while now. What I want is to watch movies directly from a hard drive and play them through my dvd player. Iomega seems like a good reliable brand.

Any recommendations of where to buy?

I got one of these from Komplett and it plays everything I threw at it. I already had a 500GB hard drive. TOu can connect 2 HD to it via usb.
€99 + delivery. Very pleased with it. Also hooked it up to my HIFI for playing music.

I have a 500MB Iomega Screenplay. Have had it about a year. The UI isn't fantastic, kind of like a cheap Windows Explorer, and no mouse to navigate, but it does play everything I have.
It doesn't go though the DVD play, but plugs direct into the TV using the Red/Yellow/White cable. I probably have the colours wrong, but you know what I mean!

I think the Iomega Screenplay Pro allows you to record from TV (and probably some other inputs).

    I bought from Pixmania.
