I think it was David Wallace or Jerry Flannery.

I read that title as Fitz Cited for gouging and thought Luke Fitzgerald had been cited. :pac:

I'm glad he was cited. This is one thing that makes my blood boil. It should NEVER ever happen

Think it was Flannery he allegedly gouged.

Unless it's with a stud, eh Bryn? ;)

A gouge is normally followed by a digging match. Don't recall any handbags during the game...

It was Ferris. One of the Irish medical team was attending to his eye and went to speak to Owens to draw his attention to it. Owens could be heard telling him he could only referee what he could see. Which was a bit rich considering his efforts throughout the game.

Yep, I heard the exact same thing on the ref radio at the match.

Yeah apparently it was Ferris at the 47th minute mark.

Florian Fritz has been cleared of eye-gouging at a hearing today but found guilty of the lesser offence of striking.

As a result, he will miss the Scotland and Wales matches in Paris having received a ban of three weeks.

Benoit Baby comes into the starting XV with Maxime Mermoz taking his place on the bench.

Good decision. He's known to have a bit of a temper and if fits are thrown will get into the mix but not a bad guy at all and not the type to eye-gouge anybody.

Only fair! Plus it's nice to see Mermoz potentially tried.

Ireland-France matches are clean respectful affairs normally, it would have been sad to see it change.

Unless it's really bad (which I don't think it was) I don't really agree with bans for punching. Yellow card and be done with it. It's rugby ffs.
