Have had an issue with lack of power in the higher revs (2000 +). Engine management light coming on. Replaced fuel and air filter with no improvement. Got a diagnostic test done and showed up fault with fuel pump. I want to remove the pump and get it tested. Are common rail pumps connected to the timing belt ? I assume there is no timing involved as ECU controls injectors directly.

i have a 01 avensis D4D and i also have the engine management light comming on

i get it checked out and it is showing a fuel pump fault I have no lack of power even when the light is on.

i was told to put a genuine toyota fuel filter on it and see and so far it has not come back on (only done about 200miles)

the lad who did the digonistic for me (indy not toyota) said he see this fix the problem on a few d4d landcruisers.

the is a company in cavan that do an exchange fuel pump for around 700 euro and yes you do have to remove the timing belt as the pump is driven by it afaik.

The Fuel pump on this vehicle itself does not give trouble, there are 2 electric valves on the back of the pump that do give trouble, that's what that dtc point to, the valves can be replaced with the pump in place, Toyota part no 04221-27011 approx €250 + vat. for the set of 2 valves.

    Thanks,

I got those valves also and sorted the problem
I bought none from Toyota in navan
Worked out as the same price as I was quoted from the UK and the north.
    I think it was 300ish

Easy job to fit them. Took 30 or 40 mins
There a fitting guide on Toyota owners club UK
Also a dealer on there who will supply parts at a discount

Still have not got the money together to pay for it so have done nothing yet, Still driving with the issue but its ok ys know,

Dissapointed though that it happened, I have driven some old Toyota Corollas into the ground (literally) and i dont think this would have ever happened an older one,
