    Hi guys,

Myself and 4 friends (all girls) are looking to go on holidays somewhere up the north this year. We've decided on the end of August, we want to rent a holiday home and go somewhere in donegal.

We're looking for some good nights out (most important), some shopping, a few sights to see, transport isn't a problem but not looking to have to drive huge distances everyday to do stuff.

Any suggestions as to where to go would be great!

    Thanks, :)

    Hi

I would defo go to Letterkenny, the nights out there are very good and there are a wide range of placces to go out in because it is a student town (LYIT). The shopping there is ok too but Derry is only 30minutes away (sorry, i know we should be supporting our own economy but lets get real..).
Some nice sights like Bundoran not too bar away either and a National Aprk type thing too (sorry cant remember a name) and also the Fanad Peninsula which is rugged and gorgeous. If there is semi-ok weather in August it will be magical.

    Hope that helps!

Friends mine who came to visit last year used lkbeds.ie (website is under construction by the looks of things). They got a 4 bed bungalow in the centre of Letterkenny.

You're spoilt for choice for going out. Shopping is good in Letterkenny/Derry/Ballybofey (McElhinneys). For touring, Letterkenny would be your best bet for a base.

The tourist office is on the main roundabout on entry to the town:

i spent most of my childhood summers in Inishowen Peninsula (my dad is from there) http://www.visitinishowen.com/ its really lovely up there but the towns are very quiet in terms of nightlife e.g. moville but it is only 20 miles from derry. unspoiled, uncrowded golden beaches litter the area, malin head and mamore gap are stunning

the old military base at fort dunree will pass an hour or two. about 35 miles south is letterkenny which is easily the biggest town in donegal, plenty of bars and clubs there, glenveagh nationalpark is only a short drive from letterkenny

be forewarned even in august the weather in donegal can get extremely wild, you haven't seen the true irish weather until you have visited donegal :p

You can always go to Kincasslagh, not much night life but a lovely spot. The little pub can be savage craic on the right night. You might even bump into Daniel (shudder);)
