    Hi all

Think this is the right section ?

Anyway wondering does anyone know where i can get genuine ink cartridges cheap for a canon mp540 ? Or would it be worth using the compatible ones that seem very cheap, seen some where u have to remove the chip from the original one and place it on the new one are these any good or should i just stick to the original cartridges ?

I'm using the printer to print photos so i do want proper quality photos.

    Thanks in advance

I use an ebay shop called 'ink-power' their cartridges have their own microchips and the quality is as good as the official epson cartridges, they're cheap and reliable too.
I'm sure theres people on here with other suggestions, theres a lot of companies in this game so they have to be good quality cartridges these days.

Great thanks for the info Alan, seems my printer is the one printer there is that doesn't have compatible cartridges. Still the originals are cheaper on ebay.

    I used this crowd recently

    http://www.internet-ink.co.uk/

    I got 3 x Epson Compatible T027 colour £6 STG inc shipping.

They do the 540 original but no compatible by the looks of it.

Great thanks for the links, they are a bit cheaper than what i've been seeing so far, seems the printer i got is the one printer that they don't or can't do compatible cartridges for :(

Here ya go! full set of compatible cartridges for £10.99, bit of fiddling around with swapping over chips though...

No idea, but from the sound of it, it's not a huge operation, seems like prizing off the chips from the old cartridges and sticking them onto the new ones.

If you do it let us know how you get on, I have just ordered a MP540 from microaid.ie out in Swords €85 if you collect or €95 delivered. Best price I could find, Argos are looking for €125 for it!

Seems like a nice printer, what's your opinion? Likes/dislikes?, cartridge life?

Hmmm that is cheap, i got mine in argos only cos i had a voucher for there i wanted to use up.

So far i've only used it to print 20 or 30 photos and even though it's early days the levels haven't gone down at all from what i can see. So far i haven't found anything i dislike about it, it's very easy to use, the display on it is clear and user friendly and it's useful being able to plug your memory cards directly into it. All in all i'm delighted with it so far, even the software is great for printing the photos.
