Was paying E110/Wk. (All In) in Athgoe Newcastle Co.Dublin.
Room had En-Suite & Piped Telly. Shared kitchen.
Was upped from E100/Wk. iirc in 2006 but could be wrong on year. Might've been earlier.
Not sure how that compares or if it expensive or not.

I moved in here 18 months ago. 3 bed terraced house.
Was €700 per month, went to €650 after 6 months and as of next month will be €600. They love me. I pay my rent and don't trash the place and every time my lease is up I ask for a rent reduction (in line with the cost of similar houses) and they give it to me as long as I'll sign up for another year. Win-win.

Im paying €750 a month in the depths of West Cork for a 4 bed house for myself and my 2.5yr old son. it was €850 when i moved in here sept 08, my landlord brought it down at the start of the summer for me.
I would love to move to somewhere cheaper but nothing in my area up to my standards after being spoiled with this place , only other house i like is in a village 10miles more into the sticks then i already am €550 a month for brand new 3 bed house, dont think my sanity is worth the €200 id save a month moving out there tho.

Wow, paying 1150 a month for a 2 bed townhouse in Dublin 6. And that's after a reduction from 1300 a few months back. Feeling a little ripped off now after reading these other posts!

Am not working at the mo, we manage, but if it comes to it, will move to somewhere less expensive. Lease is up in February, but will be having a word with landlord before that.

As for living 30/40 miles outside Dublin is not an option for us, have been looking on daft for places to rent, lets face it, its at last a renters market, and will have no problem moving if its cheaper.

edit - have seen a couple of places this evening, and due to look at them this week, just to get an idea of what x amount of rent in this area will get you!!

My family lives down there :)

I'm paying 287 per month (odd figure, I know) for a double room in Terenure at the moment. Been here six months!

By Dublin SS standards, I think that's a pretty sweet deal.

The year before, I was paying 550 (minus electricity bills) for a single room in an apartment!
