Myself and a few friends have booked a week snowboarding in France for ourselves. Two of us (myself included) have neven been before and were thinking of trying to get some lessons before going.

Im just looking for opinions on whether we would be better going to Kilternan or to the skicentre in Sandyford.

    any advice welcome. :)

Recently I talked a friend of mine in getting lessons before she went on her first Ski holiday. She want to the Skicentre and found in terrible, she thought it was a complete was of money, its not cheap.

Kilternan could be your best bet

I have used the ski centre recently for snow boarding lessons and it is great. Well worth going to get practice. I have heard a lot of bad reports about kilternan so that's why i went to the ski centre. Yes it is expensive, its € 55 for an hours lesson. you do 10 mins on, 10mins off for the hour. Now thats only 30 mins skiing but you will be tired after that amount of time.
    Well worth the visit

there seems to be a lot of conflicting reports about both places, its hard to know which is the way to go

also i believe Kilternan has gained the moniker "the thumb breaker" which puts me off a little as i dont want to risk breaking something before i even get there :)

Give the ski centre a try, As i said i have done 4 lessons and the instructer is great. i was in milton keynes 2 weeks ago in the indoor ski slope and all the lesson i had really helped me so well worth the lesson.
I am heading snow boarding in two weeks so going to get another lesson before i go.
Make sure you buy yourself some knee gaurds and impact shorts.

Each have their positive and negative points really and there is probably not much in it.

You won't get cold at the indoor one, but if your about to go on a mountain holiday then if that is an issue then you probably need to rethink the holiday your about to take.
You get to see yourself in the mirror at the Ski Center which may help more with your technique.
You actually get to go off the top of a big hill at Kilternan and get a great view of Dublin.
You get to learn how to use a lift at Kilternan and it's a bit more like actually being on a mountain than on the indoor treadmill.

    etc...
