Lads, anyone had the pleasure? Played there today on the recommendation of a pal.

Loved it. A really, really lovely golf course.

Each hole different. Would like to play it again when the weather's better as the course was not at it's most presentable today - on one of the holes, the waterhazard was completely frozen solid and had a smattering of gold balls sitting on top! No kiddin... But what a great course. I will be back.

€50 for the round, little steep in winter maybe, but the midweek offer of €40plus breakfast or lunch seems like very good value.

Wow course even open says something positive. What were greens like? They don't over do the picture gallery on the web site. A a sister course of Moyvalley, is it as open as there?

Many playing the course, fo a saturday? Final Q, where exactly is it and how far from M50?

It was probably just barely playable as some greens were quite frozen. They didnt open until after 11.0am. I picked my pal up in Celbridge, we went straight down the N4 and it took us about 45/50mins. You take the exit for Tyrellspass and it's on the far side of TP, take your first right after The Castle restaurant.

It's open, yes, and has similarities to Mayvalley but I actually thought it was nicer - and I really liked Moyvalley... It's tame off the tee but has very small, tricky, well-protected greens. Long par threes, short par threes, long/short par fours and par fives as well. Great variety, I loved it.

Played New Forest Sunday Feb 1st. There were 20 of us so we got it at the midweek rate and had the full Irish beforehand. I had heard a lot about the course but tbh I was a little disappointed in it as I felt it looked "untidy". In fairness, the greens were in excellent condition. Perhaps I'm being a little unfair as I'm sure a lot of clubs are finding it difficult to keep their courses open, never mind in pristine condition. I'd also like to play it again during the Summer season when the place is drier.

The kind of 'untidyness' was a kind of endearing feature for me - it looks like a very natural golf course. You can drive the centre of the fairway and still have an awkward uphill/downhill/sidehill lie etc.

I also think the fairways were not as prominent yesterday as the course likely had not been mowed all week - so I gave it the benefit of that doubt for the day that was in it.
