Anybody any experience of travelling to Sweden and Finland. I'll be starting in Munich Germany and want to go to Finalnd and Sweden in any order. Whats the cheapest way to travel as I'm not in that much of a hurry. Particularly interested in how to get between sweden and finland as I think train is out of the question? Any ideas anyone?

I've travelled around Sweden a bit, and got the boat to Helsinki (from Stockholm). Trains are nice here, but the prices vary a lot - a train from Stockholm to the very north costs about €120 (return). If you're going by train from Munich, it's definitely doable. I think there's a train that goes from Berlin to Stockholm (by way of Copenhagen). There's also a special deal for students that if you go to the train station the day before you can get special prices. Again though, these can vary a lot, and I'm not sure if they have to offer in the summer.

Getting the boat to Finland is quite cheap. I think a cabin of 4 costs about €36 (so €12 each), and it's quite good craic as well - the Finns do enjoy their drink. Viking and Silja are the two ferry lines that go Stockholm-Helsinki, and to be honest I can't remember which one I got, but as far as I know there's not much difference between them.
