Gonna post this here because I'm pretty sure of the reaction I'll get on the other boards.

There is a new addition coming into my life in the next few weeks, a 40 inch 1080p HDTV. I have a Wii which I get decent use out of, 2 or 3 hours a week, some times more but what I'm wondering is should I consider getting my ands on a 360 or PS3 to take full advantage of the HD capabilities of the new TV?

I made a gaming choice when I bought the Wii, most of the games I want to play are on it, I dont particularly care for FPS's but I do miss quality driving games.

So what I'm asking is, Are the HD visuals reason enough to pick a 360 or PS3?

I've taken this to the 360 board.

id say you should get one for the HD it really makes a difference.
now the 360 and PS3 are both great systems and now that the RROD is a thing of the past not much sets them apart for gaming other than online play
if your a big online gamer id recommend the 360 as the PS3 isn't very stable (in the one month i had a PS3 i got randomly disconnected at least 3 times a day) but if you only play single player i guess it just comes down to the price tag

if you only play only single player and want a BluRay player go for the PS3
but if you play more online and don't want to spend to much go for a 360

I personally recommend the 360 :pac:

Yeah its worth getting a PS3 or 360 when you're getting the TV. I went for the PS3 in a similar situation to yours because it had a few exclusives i wanted, had bits and pieces built in and it is less likely to break down than the 360. 360 has its merits too with better online support and arguably better games.

If you want driving games then probably the 360 although keep in mind that Gran Turismo 5 will probably be out by the end of the year, fingers crossed.

Don't go holding your breath what with the past track record of delays and what looks like the vapourware that is the PSP version.

    Additional point:

Get a component video cable for your Wii, you really don't want to assault your eyes with the blurry mess that will come up when you connect it through its standard composite cable!!!

Yeah i know, id say that PSP game will never happen now, by the time they get back to it surely Sony will be pushing them for a PSP 2 game.
