hi john i suppose the big players at the moment are

the tech 21 that you know about
    http://www.guitarplayer.com/article/tech-21-boost/jul-07/29474

    the trex room-mate
    http://www.music123.com/T-Rex-Room-Mate-Tube-Reverb-Guitar-Pedal-151087-i1322356.Music123
i've heard this in person and it's impressive! i plan to get one for bass

this is the one all the kids on the H.C effects forum love
    http://acapella.harmony-central.com/showthread.php?t=1420493
    looks very cool

    and finally this one
    http://www.vanamps.com/solemate.htm

which I actually have myself,it's a bit big but it sounds fantastic!
i'm not sure how pedalboard friendly it would be for you but i tend to leave it on the floor infront of my amp and i rarely turn it off anyway

i'd stay away form the boss RV-5,i think it sounds very harsh and sterile and the spring setting has this really fake "ping" that's supposed to simulate that "kicking the amp sound" which goes off every randomly which i hate!
i had one and i sold it cause the only cool thing i found on it has the gated setting with some overdrive could do a mean impression of darth vader's breathing :pac:

If you go the 19" rack way.....the TC Electronic G-Major has all the reverb you would need. In fact the TC Electronic Nova Reverb would be a good pedal option too. Expensive though.

Alesis Quadraverb? 19" but cheap and good enough for John Squires :)

Of course there is the comparatively cheap EHX Holy Grail...:)

I've seen a youtube demo of that T Rex reverb and it sounds beautiful. If i had the money i would buy their whole range of pedals.

thanks for all the replys.punchdrunk that t rex looks great, heard a few sound clips and was very impressed.i think i will stay away from the likes of the g major at the moment,i am only playing a few years and i know i would spend too much time twiddling knobs and not enough time playing.i will also look up the holy grail, although i read mixed reviews about it.cheers.

There is that new Digitech line, the Hardwire pedals. The Hardwire RV-7 is meant to be a really cool pedal with some great reverbs on it. I read it does a really good reverse reverb, which is something not a lot of pedals do, if you're into My Bloody Valentine or any shoegaze stuff.

That VanAmps Solemate is meant to be animal though - and it's really a spring reverb so you can kick it and all. The Danelectro Spring King is meant to be good, too, if you want springs on a budget.

Yeh...that new Digitech Hardwire range seems to be good sounding stuff at a good price too. Not boutique prices. Could well take over from poxy Boss. I hope so.....

The Holy Grail is a nice reverb, I use one with my 4x10 Bassman. Again, a room full of boardsies heard t for a few hours at the last meet-up and I don't think anyone had any complaints :pac:

I have a Holy Grail too, cannot recommend it enough. Great sound, simple controls and good value.
