Sky/Freesat/Multiroom questions

    Current setup:

I currently have two rooms with SD Sky+ in both, one on standard Sky sub and one with sky Multiroom subscription.
There is a Quad LNB on a new dish with 2 cables running to each box through cabled TV points on the walls.
In one room i have a SD TV, and in the other a HD TV.

    Now for the questions:

Would it be worth my while replacing the multiroom box with a HD PVR (the Humax one seems to be the best from what I've read) and keeping my Sky+ sub in the room with the SD TV? I would like to keep Sky in one room as i enjoy the sports and occasionaly the movie channels.

What channels would I receive on the freesat box? Will I be able to receive DTT on this when it goes live in Ireland?

Would it be worth getting the Panasonic TV with freesat built in that is mentioned in a number of other threads? Will DTT work with it?

Sorry if these are questions have been answered multiple times before.

Would it be worth it?? Only yourself could possibly decide. You'd be saving 15e a month anyway for starters

Unfortunately, the humax pvr doesnt have a DTT tuner so you will never be able to recieve RTE DTT with the pvr alone.

The panasonic '81 tvs you talk of are able to do both dtt and freesat alright. However, the new 2009 range of panasonic tvs are going to be here next month and ti may be worth waiting for the freesat versions of these.

If you want to avoid having to get another tv, you have a few options:

You could get the humax freesat pvr AND an mpeg4 dtt box for the Irish channels. Drawbacks, not all that practical(Having to switch between the inputs constantly) and you will not be able to record the RTE channels. Also, it'd be pretty expensive as the humax pvr is around 330e at the moment and mepg4 dtt boxes are around 100e too. This way, though, you would have a 7 day epg for both sources

Your other option is to buy a HD FTA satellite/mpeg4 DTT combo. Many boardsies are now going for these for flexibility. The best value one at the moment is the mvision HD200 combo(See this thread here). What these are able to do is take both sources(Satellite dish and DTT aerial) at the same time and combine the channels onto one epg. However they will only have 7 day listings for the DTT channels only, only now and next listings for the satellite channels. They can recieve BBC HD and ITV HD by the way. They dont have a hard drive built in either so, for pvr functions, you would need to attach a usb hard drive. Also, they are not as flexible as sky+ or the humax pvr in the way you cant record one channel and watch another. They are the cheapest option though.
