Deadlifting causing bruising?

Just wondering if this happened to other people and if theres anything I can do about it. Lately after a heavy deadlifting session the next day I'll have a bruise just on the top of my knees. Its not particularly sore or anything just annoying when they're still there for my next session. Anything I can do to stop this or maybe alleviate it a bit?

    Thanks for the help :D

Make sure you don't hit the bar off your knees on the way back down. I used to get bruising on my knees too, still do if my form slips. I just put it down to hitting the bar off my knees on the descent. Make sure your knees are out of the way on the way back down and it should be fine.

But arn't you mean to keep the bar as close to your legs as possible for correct form?

Yes you're right, but whats probably happening is that you're unlocking your knees first on the way back down which is leading them to be in the way of the big heavy bar.

Your hips should unlock first and lower the bar below the knees then the knees will unlock and lower the bar to the ground. Its just the opposite of the pull from the ground.

    Sounds about right!
