downloading from youtube type sites

Hi

Can anyone recommend some software that would allow me to download/save videos to my desktop from streaming sites like youtube etc? Preferably one that is mac friendly.

You can use this free for a month. I never used it on You Tube but it worked very well on webcams. Unfortunately it is far too expensive to get the full version, at least for me.

There are free ones if you google but I could never get any of them to work properly.

Well seeing that you don't get/download any copywrited material try these two in Firefox.

download helper is what i use. Tis great.

www.keepvid.com is quite good.The only thing is that the videos are saved in .flv format.Using a programme like "any video conveter" can convert the saved video to a number of different formats.

the firefox plugins are good but i tried this out and i like it: its a windows app called youtube downloader, just paste the link in and it saves it to a folder, and has a built-in converter.

This works for Youtube only.

When viewing the clip, edit the url in the nav bar. Change www.youtube.co/blah blah blah to www.pwnyoutube.co/blah blah blah and press enter.
The next screen gives you the option to save the clip as image.avi or image.flv. Save, don't forget to rename or the next clip will overwrite it.
