was walking through henry street about an hour ag and got stopped by someone who works in house of colous in finglas and was asked to be a 'hair model'..
did anyone here do this before?
    did they ruin your hair?
did they have much consideration to what you actually want to get done or is it purely whatever technique they need to do?
are they trained well or trainees ?

in short- should i go for it ?
i gave her my number anyways and said id think about it :)

Wish I could be a hair model for House of Colour in finglas, they charge me €150 a pop

Hmmm, my girlfriend got stopped last week on Camden Street and was asked to do the same for some salon on or near Dawson Street - not sure what the name is but apparently it is a really good salon. She agreed to do it too.

i was going in before for a well known place in galway city but had work the day they needed people for the show. basically as a hair model you don't dictate what you want. if you're uncomfortable with it just walk out but don't commit yourself or waste their time if you're looking for "a bit of a trim".

if you're talking about the IHF it's not really a proper fashion show. It's a hair competition.

i'm in it this year too and they;re considerate enough, they just told my they were cutting my hair short, and i simply asked if they could still let it be long enough at the back so i could wear extecions and they said yeah.
my hair is very blonde atm and they're dying it ginger colour, so prepare to have drastically different hair for a while.

i dunno if they told you yet but you're meant to get your hair done for free for a year after, as in colour and everything.

If that's true then I'd have no problem going for one!

A friend of mine was asked on the street if he wanted his hair cut in Peter Marks in Stephens Green. He was in there for two hours, and didn't really come out with a good cut...

I was a model for peter marks in stephens green, don't do it! It was for a competition, so I had to go in alot so she could practice; I'd be in there a couple of hours at a time, and I got a stupid cut that was short on one side and long on the other, ugh.

Don't do it! My friend did that for House of Colour(Town) and they cut her hair like a monk, dyed it 3 different colours and gave her supposedly free cut and colour for 6 months. The free cut and colour was crap because they wouldnt do what she wanted and they'd only do it Monday-Thursday until 3. She was in school till 3.30 every day.

Sod it i think you should do it.
    hair grows.

now if your hair is like elbow length, maybe think twice. other than that, whatever.

My friend had a bad experience in Peter Marks. They used a shaver. There were tears, lots of tears! They showed her a picture of the style they were going for and she agreed, but hell they digressed a bit!

More positively, another mate of mine was a model in HOC and they did a lovely job. I guess she was lucky though as the style really suited her.

I've been hair modelling for a salon in Waterford for the last year. I would recommend it if:

    a) You dont mind having a funky hairstyle/colour in your hair.
    b) Your willing to allow the stylist to do whatever SHE wants to your hair.
    c) You have the stamina to stand under very hot lights for long periods of time (alot harder than it looks)

I thoroughly enjoy the experience and cant recommend it enough but you need to be aware of what they are going to do before you jump in at the deep end. I'm lucky in that I have long hair so I model in the long hair sections, hence no fear of my hair being chopped off. I'm naturally a very dark brunette, over the last year my hair has been a multitude of copper and red shades from bright orange with mustard to fire-engine red with baby pink. I now keep my hair bright red even when not preparing for a show, its addictive!

The best advice I can give you is to ask the hairdresser what she plans to do with you and also get her to show you pictures of previous models she has used. This will give you an idea of her style and see if you like it or not. You need to be able to trust her, I have great confidence in my hairdresser and know she is'nt going to do anything that does'nt suit me, it will make both of us look bad if she does.

If your hair is precious to you and you dont want anyone to change it then walk away now, if your open for a change and willing to try something different, this is the best way to do it :)

My other friend did it too, she had mid-long brown hair with blonde bits and they dyed it black, shaved the sides short and dyed them orange. Lucky she was gorgeous or she'd never have gotten away with it.
