Just wondering has anybody ever fitted one of these? If so where did you source and did it make much of a difference?

www.tte.de do them available through Toyota dealers without affecting warranty. they make a difference alright. Don't let any monkey tune your car though and don't go crazy on the power gain.

the tuning boxes are plug and play units. they benefit from a K&N panel filter being fitted too. but they simply plug in and you get the power, no need for tuning, mapping, tweeking etc etc

good unit but not as good as a mapable unit as its just a generic map with large safety allowances to compensate for a wide range of engines their being fitted to, ie. avensis with 20k or avensis with 200k, differently aged engines, different grades of fuel etc etc

Thanks - I was looking at these - didnt know you could get them from toyota though. I see some on ebay for a bit over a 100 euro, wonder if they're worth bothering with. I'm not too concerned with upping the power too much, more curious to see the difference - although I wouldnt mine a bit extra torque down low.

Avoid the ebay tat. Seriously, leave them. If you want a tuning box, toyota route seems the way to go. I'd get a decent remap personally but if its warranty covered then happy days

Agreed - I think the ebay things are money down the drain.
Unfortunately mine is a 2l d4d with a Denso ECU - which cannot be mapped, so tuning box is the only solution, apparently most of the 2.2l d4d have a bosch ecu that can be mapped.
