Snowy weather is the best time to check for and find where different critters are living in your reserve.
Anybody out in the snow and checking for tracks in your patch as to see what is coming in and out of your area.?Was out yesterday,as there isnt much snow over here in the West,to see what is going on with the deer, before the snow melted..Found I have a fine herd of possibly wild goats coming into where I deer hunt, and that there are some fallow moving in ,but they are laying up in thick cover to get out of the wind.

So now an investment in a bale or two of hay dumped out near where they lay up will be worth it to encourage them to return for awhile. When the weather gets better, and with the farmers permission I'll see about putting in a mineral lick in the Spring.

Not gettin enough snow over the west side of the country to benefit from this. Pity cause always interesting to see whats feeding aroung hoppers & if any predators are checking these out on a daily basis.

I was out on a good long night walk! Made too much noise trying to walk around in snow that was 8"(inches) to 1'(foot) deep.

I was surprised with the number of Badgers that are knocking around my turf.
I also seen Fox and Deer tracks so i decided to see how close I'd get by following deer tracks but as per usual the Deer had turned of the track (via heavy cover that helps to break up the track) and had backtracked along the side of the path and sure enough as i followed the tracks they made me.
Funny thing was that they never let out there usual high pitched scream:confused: and there was only two of them when usually there is 10-14 every time i see them. I hope all is ok..

Anyway its great with the snow as it easy to see the lie of the land and the thickness of cover/bushes when trying to find you way home!

I also say that this weather will kill of a good few deer!! anyone think similar
