Maybe somebody will prove me wrong but i think changing firmware may void your warrenty and could damage the hardware in the psp!

I hope it doesn't sony's customer care number is Careline on 0818365065, have a look at the sony website, playstation.ie the forums there aint bad at answering questions or even the FAQ section of the website too.

You have changed the XMB clockspeed to a really slow CPU speed.
Turn off your PSP completely (not sleep mode), hold down R-Trigger when turning it on to get into Recovery Console.
Go to CPU Speed Menu and set "Speed in XMB" back to default.

It may void the warranty but it won't harm your PSP in any way.

A firmware update if incorrectly done could harm the hardware as with most electronic devices.
Im sure it hasn't , im sorry if it sounds like im riding the high horse of antipirate software or anything, it was more advice of sony may not entertain him with it.

The idea of the clockspeed is a good one though!! So good call

You could have a dodgy/corrupted/fake memorycard. Backup everything on in and reformat
