My wife is due a baby in April, our first. We would like to get away somewhere later in the year if possible. As first time parents we're abit unsure of where would be good to go with baby only a few months old?
Could anyone make any suggestions of nice destinations or nice hotels that they would recommend?

I believe Lake Garda is a nice place in northern Italy. Haven't been myself but my parents have gone plenty of times and seem to like it. Might be a bit hot though for an infant?

Congrats, I'm in the same boat as yourself. We had our little boy last may. At the minute we're thinking of going away somewhere in May. Want to go somewhere warm but not oppressive heat, worried how the baby will react to flying etc, basically havent a clue what we are going to do. I think what we'll end up doing is heading to france with the car and heading around a bit over there

Going away with an infant/newborn is actally a hell of a lot easier than with an older child.

If your wife is breastfeeding you will actually need to bring very little. Or even if bottle feeding you can still travel fairly lightly. Of course heading to the likes of France/Uk/Belguim/Holland where you can take the ferry and your own car will make it even easier.

I would personally stay away from somewhere too hot. But aside from that pretty much anywhere is open to you.

Remember your not going to have to worry about the baby crawling off - or with a toddler walking away on you. Babys stay where they are put!! They also dont need to be brought out to be amused every few minutes!!

Thanks for your help, would consider the ferry to France alright. I have never used a ferry before.
Is Irishferries the cheapest company? Does anyone know of any other cheaper websites?
Where would be good to go in France in September?

    Padraig Mor,

That'd be great! Where in Portugal did you go? Can you recommend anywhere? What was the weather like in Oct?
