Had a look last week. €22,295 on the road. Was a nice bus I have to say. Interior is a bit cheap but well equipped. Particularly liked the heated seats. It can really get the power down too

Does it have full time 4wd also, or is this the FWD version.. Seriously tempted by the price. Sort of a joke compared to an A3 2.0Tdi Quattro*, at half the price..

    *At a guess.

Terrible report by yer man, but that's a cheap car!! Much better value than the boards favourite the Octavia if you ask me!

Yeah going to see one at the local scooby dealer at the weekend, just to get some details.

I'd imagine the Octavia is a bit bigger than the Impreza. But yeah, it is very cheap for that money. Having drove the Legacy with the diesel engine, i can only imagine what its like in the lighter Impreza.

These cars are the balls, had a look at one the other day and honestly it is one serious machine for the money, the version I saw was black, leathered etc, and when compared to the Civic Hybrid piece of s**te my Dad bought last yeay I nearly made me cry!

Has to be the most confusing title of a thread i've seen lol.

Boxer Td - First thoughts were Porsche Boxer, but what was the TD about...

Open the thread, ah Boxer diesel, the Peugeot Boxer.

    Ohh...... It's a Subaru...

Lol, anywho, back on the point. Seems a cheap car, although i'm not mad on the design.

I have that engine in a Legacy, lovely growl out of it and lots of poke ONCE IT LOOSENS UP (after about 7000km). It engine management system does seem to have a life of it's own on tick-over though, think the dealers are aware of the issue, no biggie.

Great value - I mean how much is a slow-arse Auris going 1.4D with <100bhp(?) going for these days?

I think the Impreza is 2wd, not sure. Great value tho & I think the criticisms of the looks werer overdone by the mags 'cos they were expecting another saloon. With right colour/wheels etc. it'd look pretty tasty.

BTW, the yanks get a saloon, looks quite good, saw one in NYC. A diesel saloon Impreza at that kinda price would do VERY well over here - would give Subaru an outside chance of being only marque to INCREASE sales in Ireland in '09!

You might be on the ball there! Even without the saloon Subaru will do well with prices like that. The cheapest Impreza diesel now has a list price the same as the cheapest Octavia diesel.

The spec of the Octavia is basic with 15" steel wheels. The Impreza has 16" alloys, cruise control and climate control, just to name a few details. And there's a huge performance difference. And even the base model diesel has AWD (just checked this on their website). I know what I would buy...

I think that's the aircon comprressor kicking in and out

I've seen a coupla petrol saloons about here, and they are small enough - look a smidgin smaller than a focus. I's assuming diesel imprezas have the small air scoop for the intercooler like the legacys

They are all four wheel drive, even the basic. The only thing really missing on them that you could want are stereo controls and front fogs. The stereo controls are 150 squid dealer job. The guy i spoke to didnt know about the fogs. Even comes with an i-pod/mp3 jack too. There's a serious step up in price though to the other models. They were about 28k and 31.5k but they get nicer one piece seats, top model has leather. Also get bigger wheels and bodykit. They deserve to sell well but i think its the right car at the wrong time. If this was even last year subaru would make an absolute killing!
