    Hi all,

I am currently thinking about applying for the Masters in Civil Engineering at Trinity in September 09. Is there anyone who is doing or who has completed this course who could give me any advice? Is it tough, how many hours in the week, does it add much to an honours degree, etc?? Im trying to get into this course from a non-civil engineering primary degree (still not sure if I'll get in or not though) so if I did would it be hard to come up to speed with the course? Im coming from a qs primary degree.

Yea I studied quantity surveying in college but have worked with an Engineering company part-time during college and for the past year or so doing planning applications and the like. Dont really see myslf working as a QS so thats why I want to pursue my education in engineering without having to do another Honours degree. Chances are I wont get accepted but I e-mailed one of the lectures and they said to submit an application and they would review my case but Im not hopeful.
    So anyone any help??

I'm doing it. I dont think its a great course. I'm doing it for the sake of doing as I want something really just for my CV.

There is a few people in my class who arent civil engineers. They seem to be doing ok with it.

If you did your undergrad in Trinity I dont think its any benifit to you.

I'm doing it 6 hours a week. Exams coming up in a couple of weeks., Should be grand.

Then I've to do my project. Thats whats worrying me now only because I've done sweet **** all for it

Extremely poor administration. Two many senior lecturers with secure positions who can't be removed regardless of how incompetent they are.

Thats true. Some of the younger ones are good

True, but they seem to get frustrated by the intransigent nature of the department, not that the electronics people are any better.
