PC not booting

I am working on a Dell Dimension 3100 desktop for a mate. It was working fine until one day it stopped booting. When we hit the power button the computer does not boot, nothing comes on screen, fans spin, and it emits 6 beeps (of equal length)

I checked the dell beep error codes and dont see anything about 6 beeps.

Funnily enough i got the computer working fine by resetting the CMOS by removing the battery. The computer worked fine for a few reboots and then the error occured again. Another time I removed one stick of RAM and all was fine again. Weird.

Having left the stick of RAM out of the computer the error has popped up again after 2 days. I have run a Memtest - all is fine. My next step is to test the PSU but can anyone else offer any ideas?
