just discovered they charged this and am pretty peeved, problem is i have 2 boxes and i want both downgraded so they are charging me 20 euro instead of 10. i dont know how they justify charging twice on the same bill.

just a heads up for everyone thinking of downgrading

I'd imagine if you say "I will cancel altogether unless you waive this charge" they will waive it. :)

Two boxes, two fees. That doesn't make sense. It's the one subscription open on both. Tell them to downgrade one, the second should automatically downgrade. (I assume it's multiroom you have and not multiple accounts).

Or just cancel and they will offer the downgraged service at a bit of a discount.

it is one subscription, one bill, they said that doesnt make a difference. we even got as far as speaking with a team leader which is very hard to do with them. they said we dont pay it we they will chase us for it. also if we do cancel completely we have to pay 25 euro but since we had already downgraded at that stage we would have to pay both the fees so it would be 45 euro. basicly highway robbery.

just looked more into this on their website and apparently this downgrade fee is per package so therefore if you were to ask them to remove a sports package and a disney package this is 2 downgrades also.

Unbelieveable. Its like UPC are trying to chase customers away.

    How legal is this?

Clearly stated in all there publications but I wonder how many customers have been informed of this prior to the relaunch as UPC...very little I'd imagine so maybe those people would be able to fight it

Personally I think it's a ridiculoius charge as it frightens people from taking addon's to there subcriptions to see if they'd like them or not...

I got caught for this before - called to cancel my Setanta Sports and Sky Sports and was told I'd be charged a 20 euro "downgrade charge". I couldn't believe it. Discussions were had and but I still ended up having to pay the sh@gging money to cancel.

    Some thieving fvckers alright.
