first verse of a poem

    Hiya, this is just the first verse of a poem I've started, inspired by a tree I saw on the way home. If you could give me any opinions, or even tips about where to go next with it. I don't know whether its any good or not, if it's shyte please be gentle!:)


    Once I stood straight backed and proud and serene,
    Bedecked like a king in my fine cloak of green.
    But I’m now bare and ancient, towards the ground I do bend;
    I fear, my dear people, my long life’s reached its end.
