Has anyone ever paid musicstore.de by cash on delivery? It seems fairly straightforward to me, but as I'm very cautious, I'm just wondering what people's experiences here are. Does it go fairly smoothly, or are there potential problems?

Quick update - I received my item today. I must say though, after placing my order, I heard nothing for a week. I dropped them a quick email to ask what the story was. I got no reply, but then a day later got an email from UPS with the shipping details. I wasn't impressed. They would have forgotten about my order had I not contacted them. Anyway, it's a Schecter Omen 6 Extreme (no frills metal machine :p). It stays in tune, plays well and sounds great. Some reviews moaned about the pickups, but hey, find me a guitar that has a reviewer who doesn't! Here are some pictures:

As you can see, there's some quite severe damage to the finish on the back. Nobody would see it when playing, but I was considering sending it back. I suppose this is a risk you take when you buy online. Reviewers said this guitar was indestructable...I guess the weren't talking about the finish.

was this purchased as new?? if so, there's no way in hell id accept a guitar with any damage. you paid for a new guitar, you expect a new guitar and you should get a new guitar.

    send it back!

The few bits I compared on that site are a fair whack higher than Thomann or Xmusic for that matter...

No, you definitely do not have to accept damage with online purchases. Of course damage happens, but you don't have to accept it, you are entitled to a perfect guitar and they have shipping insurance etc for this purpose.

    Yeah brand new.

This was a tad more expensive from musicstore yeah, though they were the only ones who had the finish I wanted. Funnily enough though, I accidentally ordered the wrong finish. Doh!

Good point. Better set the wheels in motion.

Oh and I had also emailed them with a query about the guitar, but they didn't reply. The Schecter site listed this as a mahogany bodied guitar, but the musicstore site (and others) said it was basswood. I wanted to know which was correct. Something tells me I'll be thinking twice before using them again.

(It actually feels like it's mahogany)

I've bought a few things off them on COD.

It doesnt really matter if they forget your order - you havent paid for it, take 5 mins and order it again.

Trick is, when its delivered, open it up, and inspect it before you pay the driver. If its not right, hand it back.

    DEFINITELY send it back, dude.
If they don't reply to your emails, phone them. And don't let them put you off.
(If neccessary use Skype Out for the calls its dirt cheap)

I didn't order again, I emailed them. Instead of a reply, they simply initiated the shipping process (I then got a UPS email). Had I ordered again, I may have ended up with two of the same thing on my doorstep.

What I'm complaining about is the lack of communication and the apparent poor customer service. You don't get a second chance to make a first impression.

I've ordered a few things off them. All COD, and some big things, A Fender Jag, USB keyboard and 7 guitar stand being the biggest. Everytime, the quality has been great, the equipment well packed and the one time something was late (around christmas time) they let me know.

There is a number you can ring them on in another thread here and if you have any problems with the return of the faulty guitar, pm me and I can give you more info.
if equipment is faulty then they must organise and pay for collection of the equipment, but i think if you accept the item without first checking it (not too sure here though, so check it out) you are saying that it has arrived in perfect condition and you might have some problems, re getting them to collect it.

I've bought a guitar and a bass from Musicstore and was very impressed, decent prices, fast delivery and good customer service. I'm surprised that there is damage as the ones I bought had excellent packaging.
