I traded in a 2002 skoda fabia and got 4500 trade in allowence(Yeah so! I hear you say)

My point is if I am getting that on the trade in the garage would quick sale that at 5,500 so yes for a toyota which is a brilliant car you seem to be getting a good deal.

Friend or foe: Get your own mechanic to look at it. The A.A provide this service for around 125 euro. Sounds obvious but check there is no outstanding finance.

Having said that it all depends how much you trust your friend and if your going to avoid all these checks thell the uncle how much your going on his word.

Best of luck happy motoring. Have you got an insurence quote yet. How did you fare!

I would be going fully comp on this one by that might be to expensive for you.

hey thanks for all your feedback i was thinking the price was right just want to make sure it was a good car.

i went to quite a few on-line insurance companys that i found recommended on boards and figered out there theres no such thing as the cheapest. most places quoted me 1,400 to 1,800 but bestquote.ie gave me 1,200. im 26 one years named driver and only got my full lience last oct so i guess that price is to be expected yea?

There is a thing called a discretionary discount the insurance agent can give you but you must physically speak to them. Make sure you call the people.

I prefer to deal with http://www.ondirect.ie/

I am with Quinn I am sure you chcked them out. My wife is with Axa. Worried the next bit is not legal but here it go's. If you get your mom to get insured as the main driver and you go as named it seems to work out cheaper. You can get your mom no claims protection to protect her in case you decide to hit some mercs or beamers.

    leave it with you.

    i dont think so.
cant find a price on the aa site, but i think its about double the price you quoted

Not too sure but I think the AA have stopped offering this service recently. Maybe if you could get a mechanic your family might use to give it the once over just in case.

Best of luck with it. Good choice for the price and mileage

As you can see from the replies I might be wrong on the A A but thats what I paid so maybe it's cause I am a member. Any way you get the jist.

If you get a mechanic of your own and the finance check(Costs Around 200. For 400-500 more its good peice of mind.

    Again Happy motoring!

Quinn were the first group I tried and in that case it was over the phone I believe they quoted me 1,600. So is it best to call rather then get quoted online? So the insurance company ads on cable tv have been lying to me this whole time
I have to get it sorted today during lunch or after work meant to be picking the car up to night.
I’ll look into getting a mechanic to give it a once over might as well get it done right the first time really don’t need any nasty surprises

try 123.ie. I couldn't believe how cheap they were for my wife's insurance. They were just over half of what Axa quotes despite her being with Axa for four years now.

It is well worth the money, but the thing is how many other 02 Corolla's are for sale, new car sales are down 67%, and too are secondhand car sales. If your getting a warranty and it is fully serviced, not so bad. Happy motoring.

Get out the Golden Pages, and call everyone. It'll take an hour or so, but you may be surprised at how much you save. To save time, start off by telling them your age, NCB and license status - it can sometimes save going through the whole rigamarole only to find at the end that they only quote people with a full NCB or something. Good luck.

Found insure.ie to be cheapest for my 01 1.4 Corolla liftback. Similar in every way including colour to yours.

BTW, fantastic car :D Everyone I know who gets in mine compliments it for its lack of quiet drive, comfort and that is on motorway as well as backroads and going over speed bumps in housing estates.

I have driven a 2 hour drive each way the same day and only got out of the car to put a bike I was buying the boot. It fitted, fully in the boot without any problems so easy to drive back and I got back without any pains.

Definitely recommend the car if its the same or similar to mine which I'm sure it is as I doubt they changed much in those years other than a few extra luxuries.
