    Here we go.... :/
    erm...when did Ando get powers?

edit: I'll give it this: It wasn't bad. But then its hard to fcuk up a premiere.
Emo Peter: "Wah hes ded :( CPR FAIL"

Airplane at the end: totally exaggerating decompression - once all the air cycled out of the plane the pressure would have equalized, and they wouldnt have all been getting sucked out like that.

Sylar is a badass again, which may single handed, save this show.

Injected himself with that formula towards the end of last season, to go and save Hiro from the past. His power amplifies other powers... Haven't watched this new one yet though.

why would peter be so concerned about not letting go if he could fly? guess I'll just chalk it down to too many powers for the writers to know what to do with them

Still on the fence with this one.

I thought it was a good episode.

Good amount of information there but a few surprises too.
HRG working for Nathan and the Government and Nathan ratting out his brother. Surprising. Peter is gathering everyones powers again and Sylar resisting getting caught because he is too strong. That kicked ass. The Ando thing is interesting too as he will be able to track Hiro and find where they are being held.

Interesting to see what comes next.

Because he didn't have much strength

I really enjoyed it, looks like it could be a good session.

Best of all not a hint of Time Travel about.

    What's the story with
Peter's power? Are they now implying that he needs to touch people in order to absorb their power? Or was it just their way for visualising the process to make it easier to portray in that situation. Hopefully it's the latter because the former would contradict the scene in "Dual" where Peter flies over to Nathan (flying before he touched him).

    And also, what's with
Parkman being the latest Isaac Mendez?

Overall, a good enough episode. I was hoping for a little bit more drama but whatevs. The last scene was really good and the direction of the episode as a whole was quite pleasing.

Whats with all the spoiler tags? For episode discussions id assume people are going to be talking about what happened in the episode anyway, why not just put spoiler in the thread title like on the lost forum?

Okay episode i guess, Clair is still fairly annoying.
Looks like shes back to hating Noah. The scene with sylar kicking ass was nice, couldve been a bit longer.

    Good episode. :D

The scene with sylar was class and the hunter guy looks very interesting.

Having skipped the latter half of Volume 3 I presumed the touch was something he picked up from daddy petrelli when he lost his regular ability to absorb powers.

Hugs are for Peter what Kryptonite is for Superman :)

    WTF
Here we go again with someone telling the future and the "Heroes" rushing around to stop it.
Did we not already go through this in season 1 2 and 3.
I voted just crap because of this fact.

Who gives a crap about the cabin pressure stop complaining about how a show with super powered people doesnt stick to the laws of physics.

It looks like Peter absorbs one power at a time (he seems to lose the strength as soon as he gets the ice ability). They could say he dived to get Nathan without any power, then got his ability to fly and flew.

Was ok i guess, could be promising. don't think Mohinder is going to get another job as a cab driver, thats the second taxi he's abandoned in the city....:pac:

Just in the middle of watching this now. Did any one else notice the rubbish editing in the scene with Parkman and the African guy with the stick. Each time the camera angle switched he was holding the stick a different way. When the camera was behind him it was verticle and when the camera was in front of him it was horizontal. I know it's not that big a deal but how did no one pick that up.

God damn it, Peter, you stupid idiot. The last person to ask you for a hug steals your powers. Then your brother, who you know is starting to round up people just like you, asks for a hug and you don't get suspicious? Get a brain you bloody moronic git.

For such a high tech system, Hiro sure uses a pretty stupid means to keep people locked out of it. A password on the windows account??!?!??!? Oh no, whatever will we do, because there is no way to remove that.

Narp. At the end of Volume 3, Peter injected himself with the 'formula' and flew across a room, grabbed Nathan and flew them both to safety from a burning building. He was in flight before touching his brother so I dunno what they're playin at with this touch buzz. They should just leave his power as it was but reset it.... Hmm.... Jerks.

A password on the windows account??!?!??!? .

That's up there with the air pressure equalizing comment by overheal.

    FFS boys, it's Heroes.

If we're playing that game, why doesn't Clair's boob never pop out?

Yeah i picked up on that but it was so blatant i thought it was done on purpose maybe to emphasise the fact parkman was imagining him

Actually, it was done on purpose (I'll admit, surprisingly).

Anyway - in the style chosen for this episode - the stage line is PURPOSEFULLY crossed all the time. The characters are always jumping the line and looking the wrong direction - and the designed intention of this is to create tension in the viewer. As with all rules, one needs to understand the proper implementation of the rule before one can feel secure breaking it. And it needs to be broken aggressively - not piecemeal. I think Yaitanes and Nate Goodman did an excellent job in this regard..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,906 ✭✭✭J-blk

It was pretty good, well better than anything from volumes 2 & 3 anyway... It does seem Peter's power now only works by touch and it's one power at a time. Like it was already said, as soon as he absorbs Tracy's ice powers, he loses Mohinder's strength. I guess that's going to stick, as Peter would eventually be the most powerful character (if he ever stops hugging people that is)...

Sylar kicking ass was definitely the highlight of the episode and came just as I was thinking "I bet he won't be that easy to take down..." :).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,780 ✭✭✭JohnK

Question is though, does he take a persons power like his father did or just copy it like he used to? If he takes it completely then has he just neutralised the Mohinder and Tracy?

How do you know that the guy who shot out of the plane didn't have the ability to create an infinite decompression vortex? In other words, it's Heroes... I think they threw the physics book out the window a long time ago. I mean that eclipse was wrong on so many levels.

Asking questions like this seems to be a classic example though of the engineer paradox :D

I agree, his ability has changed now since the formula gave him his power back. He can now only use 1 power at a time, and it seems to be tied to whoever he touched last. His power seems to be a bit like Rogues from X-men.

Personally I'm liking this change as it puts Peter in the backseat for once and opens up the way for some sort of league to form where each individuals powers are necessary. Before, the whole Sylar vs Peter thing was growing thin, as they where relative equals. Now Sylar has the ability to truly grow into a super villain.

No,if you watch that scene he lunges at Nathan and only starts flying when he has grabbed him.

    Within a week, chillax.

Better to have Peter restricted from being a total power sponge. And it makes sense given how instable he was when he could pick up every power he got a whiff of like Chicken Pox. After all we wouldnt want him sploding now would we.

    Would we...

Cue Claire touching Peter's mangled corpse and hey presto back to normal.

If Peter only takes the power of the last person he touches then if he touches Sylar he'd be his equal (the same way his Dad took all of the powers at once).

yeah but we know peter is eventually gonna go back to super peter with the scar.
They've played that scar thing from season 1 so there is no way they are dropping it now.

Loved the music in yer man Grey's place.

I think yer all crazy! The best part of Peter's power is that he was becoming more and more powerful as time wore on, coming up close behind (and sometimes surpassing) Sylar.... One at a time is lame....

Yes but its no fun writing stories about god, just like its no fun writing stories about superman, which is why they had to write in Kryptonite for him. Having an unlimited pool of powers to choose from was far too much from a literary standpoint - frankly, its boring when your character cant die and can do everything from travel through time to becoming invisible and everything in between just because hes met someone else who can do those things. Sylar at least has to kill them or spend a lot of time in focus on something, and he also has the much better character, being villain-y and all.

I was thinking about the whole Peter having to touch people now to get their powers thing and was just wondering, could the fact that all the 'heroes' were drugged to suppress their powers have anything to do with it? i.e Peter can't absorb abilities in his usual way when they were under the affects of drugs because their powers were dampened and so he had to touch them to access it?

I disagree, Peter does not have the right mentality to have that much power, should go to someone who would use it properly like me

Meh. Think that sums it up. It was a good enough season opener, but while the storyline seems to be reasonably interesting it dawned on me while watching this that I don't find any of the characters in the show in any way interesting any more, mostly because the last two series have shown that character development is clunky at best.

I might give it another couple of episodes to see whether this improves, but like someone else said earlier in the thread, it's fast approaching the point of being a wasted hour. Ah well, at least Season 1 was pretty good...

I thought the exact same thing, and as someone mentioned in a previous post, has he now stolen Mohinder and Nikki's powers or just copied them?

It was a pretty good ep, better than I thought it would be, also, if Peter is copying people's powers, I wonder if he's keeping them or do they only last for a little while?

Oh yeah, I agree with every point you've made like, I just liked his character/power so much in season one. I just think rather than changing his power to something so much shadier/inferior is kinda crap. They shoulda just reset him back to zero and then limited the amount of characters he interacted with-Hiro's lost his powers now so that takes care of time travel. I also don't dig Sylar being invincible either....

Bah, Im gettin sick of it already

Stupid Claire "I have to save the world, cos its what the cool kids are doin"

She cant die, she just ****s everything up for everyone else

    hooer!

and stupid Peter with his hugs

    he'll never learn

Doesnt make sense that Peter has to touch someone first

Like when Hiro came back from the future, and when he took Rain's invisibility from a few feet away

and stupid annoyin mohinder, wish hed fook off and die already

    was pretty lame IMO

Nathan asked Peter what power he had now, and Peter said he had the last power he saw him with, flight.

Leads me to believe Nathan knows he can only have one power at a time. Thats why he asked for the hug, to make sure.

I think Mohinder grabbing his hand at the last minute is some kind of saviour for Peter depending on what Mohinders power does.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 862 ✭✭✭cautioner

Peter looks an awful lot less hot with his old hair.

Also, Precog Matt is thoroughly ridiculous. 2 powers? What about Hiro? Is he precog now too?

Also, I found the scene with Peter and Mohinder in the taxi really random. Oh, hey, I tried to kill you 2 months ago, how've ya been?

    INT Taxi
Peter: You ever think that maybe you were meant for something... special?

Seems like it's a bit of a reboot to season one. Basically - people less aware of wtf they can do/are supposed to be doing and less use of powers. This leads to less plot holes, less screaming at the screen going, "Use your f*ckin power you muppet!" and basically more room for actual storytelling.

Super strong sylar works because he uses his powers when you'd expect him to instead of freezing with fear like Peter seemed to do every time. When ambushed, he did exactly what you'd expect someone like him to do: kick ass.

I also thought that Peter would just let go and fly out, but that they've changed his power now seems to make sense.

I would probably rate this highest out of the season so far. That's not that difficult though.

I got that, it just seemed totally out of context for the two, who I would have thought would be somewhat frosty to each other after all that nasty business. Reboot indeed.

You missed the repeat on BBC2 already... Dunno where abouts 3e is... I'd say interweb is your best bet until Sci-Fi gets the rights (which'll be about 2 years).
