It's to keep the channel numbers the same as in the UK.

    I the UK 101+102 are BBC, 103 ITV, 104 Channel4 and 105 Channel 5

After that the channel numbers stay the same for UK and Ireland apart from 134-142 where the irish versions of Channel4 channels and BBC are.

105 is used in the UK EPG as Five. And thats not available on the irish version only via other channels.

On a side not. I believe when Channel 6 first launched (Now 3e), they wanted channel 105 on Sky, but were refused it. So they only launched on NTL.

From What I hear they wanted 106, If you can define stupidity it's trying to get EPG Slot 106 on Sky.

Yeah, the're on Sky now, but they originally only launched on NTL and Chorus on 30 March 2006. They joined Sky on 5 February 2007.

I can't believe they wanted 106. There was no way they'd get that.

I'd Imagine you'd need some really deep pockets to do that.

How long has 3e been 3e ? I noticed it in the papers over the weekend, but it could have been renamed some time ago and I wouldn't have noticed. I still assumed it was NTL only, but from one of the posts here it seems to be on Sky also. Can anyone say where it is please ?

Sorry - I just went over the posts again - I will try 164 later this evening and see if it's there, but if it's not can anyone say where it is ? On a related note, how are people supposed to pick up info about new channels on Sky ? There could be a whole load of new channels for all I know, but because I am not going to spend 30m manually going up through each channel just to find out that some Slovakian Cookery channel has appeared at 638 or something.

It changed over from Channel 6 to 3e around the beginning of January.I only ever watch it for the brilliant Seinfeld!

I checked it out last night and got the big blue screen - "yada, yada, yada, an extra €2 a month, yada, yada, yada"

    I think I'll pass.

3e is part of the Varity Pack and you wont get it unless you have the pack. Hence the €2 "yadda, yadda, yadda"

Until they fix the aspect ratio and get some deacent irish programmes your not missing much. And it deffinately has no call to be on 105 even if they were lookin to be moved
