[Help] Old Satellite Dish Only has German Channels

    Hi All,

I’m reactivating a neighbour’s old satellite dish that has been left dormant for the last 10 years. It appears to have approx 60 channels available, the vast majority being German (CNN and Eurosport being exceptions).

I’ve experimented with the manual tuning but as far as I can tell it will only give German channels. I know little or nothing about satellites/cards etc. Does anyone know what is the likely cause of this, if it can be rectified to show English language channels (eg BBC, SkyNews) and how exactly one goes about rectifying it.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks In Advance for all responses.

Sounds like it is points at the wrong bird, that sounds like Astra 1 at 19E, you want Astra 2 at 28E.

Would be important to know if Eurosport is also in German, as if it's English, then it could be an analogue receiver, which will be no good for 28.2E.

    Astra 1 is at 19.2

Sky Analogue was 10 years ago and from 19.2e Which is now mostly German, mostly Digital but with some analogue.

    That's why it's German.

We need to know what kind of receiver you have attached to this dish? if its a digital receiver then yes you can use the dish to receive the UK FTA channels by a small adjustment of the dish. The dish needs to be lowed in elevation very slightly (Should be marks on the dish for moving dish up and down, elevation for astra 2 is 21) and turned slightly (Not much) to the left when looking at the dish from behind.

    Ten year old Dish Snaps?

You think it's movable at all?

At least it should get Russia Today, CNN, Sky News, BBC World TV and part time in English DW-TV
    Plus lots of German channels
