It depends on what the setup is and who the provider is.
UPC (ex NTL/Chorus), Magnet and Smart are the main ones and there are maybe a half dozen more. You often are stuck with whoever the developer or apartment management co. or Landlord has done a deal with.

You need to find out what the options are.
