    Hi,
I have just finished building my house that has natural stone. Unfortunately lime deposits are starting to leach out. Does anybody know how to get rid of them and to prevent them in the future (can you apply a water seal?)

    any ideas would be appreciated.

The best idea I can come up with at the moment is to grind out as deep as you can without the wall falling apart and repointing. There is pointing and pointing and the new pointing should angled to shed the water, not soaking into the stonework and the surface should be tooled smooth.
You could try just try pointing without grinding if your joints have a bit of depth. Good Luck

From my Father, I understood vinegar in water was the default option to wash lime off. Base + Acid, makes sense. Its the standard response to lime leeching out of mortar ?
