    hi all,

Just a quick question about car insurance if anyone can help me out??

i have bought a car in the north over the weekend and i plan to vrt it in the next few days.... i transferred my insurance over to this car..

I give my brother my old car...the catch is my brother was insured as a named driver on this car and now he cannot drive it as he as i have transferred my policy to the new carn and he would not be insured... he hasn't registered the car in his name yet etc....

can he apply for insurance on this car even though he does not "officially" own it?

    Thanks,

    cerebis!

That is a very good question and one that has sparked controversy over the years. Some insurance companies will allow this but others wont, so my 1st advice is ring the insurance company.
Some insurance companies will initially allow this but if the unthinkable happens like he has an accident the insurance company will use this as an excuse not to pay out. They are a bunch of thieves in uniform!

My other piece of advice is in relation to the VRT. You said you will be paying it in the next few days. You are required by law to pay VRT by the end of the next day after you bring it into the country, otherwise you will be fined. The fine is fairly hefty as well so pay it ASAP!
