With some prospect of snow in the next few days will the M50 look like this view from London?

With the tolling of the M50 is snow clearance now the responsibility of the toll operator? This is also the case on the M1. M4 etc. What performance does the contract require in winter conditions?

"The consortium with whom the Authority has entered into the M50 Phase 2 (PPP) contract will assume operation and maintenance responsibilities for the full M50 from the junction of the M50 with the M1 in the north (Junction 3) to the southern termination of the M50 with the M11 motorway (Junction 17) as part of a long term concession agreement which includes the section of the M50 between Junctions 6 and 7."

They're run by a company called "BetEire Flow" actually. If they were run by the NRA I guarantee it'd be working better - PPARS and Pulse delays aside the vast majority of state IT systems 'just work', while Eflow... just doesn't.

The entire operation and maintenance of the road is done by a contractor not by the NRA. This ranges from picking up rubbish to recovering broken down vehicles to maintaining the actual road surface.

Can the M50 Westlink ANPR's read through snow?

I can see a market for fake snow spray in the next coming days. :D

Is this directly funded by the toll between Exit 6 and 7? If so, would tolling of the entire M50 not be a fairer system?

BTW did any councils have the gritters out last night or this morning before rush hour? Wasn't any evidence in Dublin city centre. Grafton St was like an ice rink.

Gritters out here in South Dublin as usual when the temp drops to near freezing. They are pretty good in general tbh.

I doubt they would bother gritting Grafton St because it's not a road for driving on. Excluding deliveries of course.
Most roads seemed clear this morning.

M50 Concessions are now in charge of gritting the M50, think they left it until 8am yesterday morning though. The councils had their's out at 3 or 4am
