Snow in England

    I'm in Stratford in London.
There is snow stickling and about an inch and half of snow already and it's only going to get worse. I cannot wait. I'm like a big child.

Anybody know if it could cause flight disturbance as I'm meant to be flying home in next few days.

It depends on the amount of snow. Deicing the aircraft is no problem, it's landing and takeoff that causes the problem - braking conditions and the like become dangerous (they do clear the runways of snow regularly in those situations). I personally doubt the airport will close, I really don't think this even t will be that bad, but in the UK it may well be worse.

In short, it's impossible to tell until the day you're due to go. You probably won't have problem though.

Edit: I was wrong. Gatwick is now closing.

Its going to be a pain getting into work tomorrow, and a bigger pain when I'm in work.....snow = road traffic accidents and general chaos.

Wont be flying into London tomorrow and many will not be going to work.

All London buses withdrawn due to dangerous road conditions.

    London could be snowbound tomorrow.

Still coming down heavy here :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 265 ✭✭markens2

    Picking up here again.
Any word on transport for tomorrow???

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,155 ✭✭✭metman

Other than was posted about the buses, nada. Trains won't tell you sod all until you get to the station, be it mainline or LUL. Bound to be major cancellations if this continues. My missus is banking on train chaos as she fancies a day off.... lazy civvie that she is :D

Snow is coming down in a veritable blizzard here now. Should be fun trying to drive into work later.....

My missus is in stansted and waiting to see can she get a flight later. If not she could be stuck there cos no buses will be runnin.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,155 ✭✭✭metman

I imagine the Stansted express will probably still be running....into Liverpool Street, so worst case she could jump on that and then tube it back out your way?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 265 ✭✭markens2

    Hopefully thats the plan.
I'm hoping schools are closed. I'm meant to be teaching at 9.
And I really couldn't be arsed.

Now raining in Essex. Loads of slush out on the roads. If it freezes tonight it will be a receipe for disaster.
