Shows you want that will probably never come out on DVD

    1. Beavis and Butthead - Nearly all the ep's have been released in one form or another but the problem is the stuff where the two louts piss on various music videos is still unavailable.

    2. Reeling in the Years : Shortsighted RTE never considered licencing music rights before producing the one piece of genuine meat in the ****-sandwich that is their schedule.

    3. Jackass (TV show). Again the amount of music used in this show is why (I'm guessing) the 20ish episodes of this show haven't found it's way to DVD yet.

    4. 60's Batman. (internal wranglings between DC Comic, Warner Brothers and 20th Century Fox still unresolved).

Maybe I was imagining it, but I thought I saw Reeling in the Years - the 1980s on sale in HMV the other day.

Yeah it's just a "best of" afaik? I'd like to be able to get the full-eps (preferable the original versions as I've noticed they like to occasionally edit the repeats to reflect current affairs).

China Beach - used to love watching that as a kid, although in retrospect a lot of it was probably a little over my head so i'd like to see it again. Another show with music licencing preventing a DVD release.... :(

Would have said The Waltons but it's just gotten a Region 1 release.

Reelin in the 80's is available, but it has been cut from about 23.5 mins per year to about 16 mins per year for the dvd, it's still a great watch mind you.

Not perfect, but a good effort from a station more famous for making a bollix of things than trying to do them properly.

My own favourite would be Cold Case. The use of music which makes the programme so distinct is also the reason why it may never see the light of day on DVD.

One commentator reckons that to just clear the music rights to release the 'nirvana' themed episode alone (and only for sale in the USA) would cost somewhere in the region of 3.5 million dollars before a dvd was ever sent to the duplication plant.

The B&B 10 disc collectors edition has 3 complete dvds of music videos with the boys interjections included. It's about €35.00 on play or amazon.

As for Jackass, see below. :D

Was that not released years ago?

    Anna Lee and Spender.

    Anna Lee
    Anna Lee (ITV 1993)
    Imogen Stubbs

Feisty, short skirt wearing, Triumph Herald-driving Anna Lee was the creation of writer Liza Cody. Set in London.ITV adapted the books about the junior PI into a ten part series. Imogen Stubbs seemed to have a lot of fun playing the role. Slightly scatterbrained and chirpy enough, if a little too upmarket to be convincing.

    Freddie Spender
    Spender (BBC 1991-93)
    Jimmy Nail

Undercover copper Spender was an idea Jimmy Nail had while working on Auf Weidersehen Pet!. He convinced writer Ian La Frenais to flesh out the character and - using Newcastle as a backdrop - a decent midweek drama was forged. The late Sammy Johnson played Spender's sidekick Stick, who could be relied upon to provide the humourous sub-plot. Nail, keen to move away from the character of Oz, grew his hair long and Spender was given to introspection whilst looking moody. Denise Welch played Spender's wife, who was killed by a car bomb in the final series.

that show had literally holy grail status among me and my school friends, especially seeing as it was damn hard to find on tv at the time.

    might try and import it
