With the last match of the season(I'm gonna be cracking up until the draft and then until the new season:(), I thought it might be a good idea to get this going.

I'm gonna binge on Amercian Football movies and documentaries. So recommendations please.

I've seen most of the movies and some good docus but I won't spoil it by putting any here, let the naming begin...................

If there is anything worthwhile that I've seen that is not put up by somebody else, I'll post it at the end.

Not a film but I loved The Blind Side, a book by Michael Lewis.
    Get it as an audiobook

    Friday Night Lights, the film.

The series is a kind of teen drama, it's decent imo.

The Longest yard has burt reynolds as for Kris Kristofferson cant remember if he was in that movie though. Maybe as a cameo.

Edit: looked through my collection and imdb. Semi Tough is the name. Ok movie.

Kristoferson was not in The Longest Yard but it is a classic film.

Rudy is a personal favourite of mine having grown up on the Southside of Chicago.

Keeping with that tradtion, I also have to add Knute Rockne All American and Brian's Song to the list.

Remember the titans is probably the best american football movie going. I liked Any Given Sunday as well. The Grid Iron Gang was good too.

Friday Night Lights is my favourite one, liked the first series of the tv show as well, I suppose I should buy the book to complete the set! Came across Remember the Titans on tv a few weeks ago, good show but it has it's fair share of corny moments. My other favourite would be any given sunday.

I saw "The Express" a couple of nights ago. A poorly acted and directed movie if your a movie buff, but the story of Ernie Davies is excellent.

If you are looking for football shows to watch, id recomend Playmakers or Hard Knocks. They may be hard to get your hands onthem if you want to get them legally ;).

North Dallas Forty is my favorite, shows a very gritty harsh side of the game.

No expert on American football but would recommend, for anyone who hasn't seen it, searching out All the right moves. Think someone mentioned it here already.
Kind of a lost classic if you ask me. Based on high school football in a Pennsylvania steel mining town that's seen better days. Really captures the atmosphere. Also, though as i said i'm no expert, think the football scenes are pretty realistic.
Oh and it's one of Tom Cruise's earliest films. Know he polarises opinions but if you don't like him don't let that put you off. He's excellent in this.
