    Captured this today: http://ie.youtube.com/watch?v=U2LzhxcHUBU&fmt=18

On Dame Street, in bad traffic a taxi puts its hazards on and the passenger opens the door while a biker is going by on the inside (in what I think is a cycle lane, not sure if its dashed on continuous line or the times), the biker either dodges the door or hits it, you can't make it out and I didn't see at the time, either way he ends up falling on a few rubbish bags, the passenger immediately gets out and helps him up, then the other passenger and the taxi driver get out, while the passenger who opened the door throws his hands in the air looking a bit shocked, and then legs it away:eek:

Seems pretty much everyone is at fault in some way here, but how would the judge and jury see it I wonder?

Maybe it was just a ploy to let his friend pay the full fare for them both while he legged it away :pac:

I don't know the law on undertaking.

I do know that bikes (or anyone) can use dashed cycles lanes though

I cant see any bike in that video ... I see the bus and bike lane. But cant see any bike pass on the inside.

Bike is only visible from 3-8 seconds, watch out for the red tail light ahead of the bus on the left side of the screen.

The law on undertaking is that you're only supposed to undertake if the vehicle ahead is turning right or in slow moving traffic it's ok too, but because the bike wasn't necessarily in a lane, unless it was a dashed cycle lane, then it might make some difference.

The bike is highlighted by the square on the screen.

Ah ok .. watched it again. Saw the biker. All sorts of bad stuff going on.. undertaking in a cycle lane, legging it without paying etc.

Hope the biker was ok - even if he was doing wrong.

Technically, under statute, motorcycles are CYCLES. Motorised ones, yes, but still cycles.

This is the anomaly that allows those elec cars to be sold here sans safety (NCAP) testing - legally, because of their weight, they are also cycles. Quadricycles.

    Useless titbit I know.

You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”
