UPC DVR - built in modem for broadband?

    Hi,

    I have a UPC DVR and ordered UPC broadband, I thought that they simply would enable the connection, lash an ethernet cable in the box and voila. Is there a modem in the DVR?

    My TV single TV point has the direct cable coming straight in and then into a 'splitter' that then has two crappy white cables one for TV and one for FM.

    The broadband installer took one of the crappy TV cables and split it again for the broadband and TV.

    Is this normal?

    There is a modem in the DVR but it is not used. Its for future use so the box is suitable for VOD and interactive services.
    What the installer did is standard. What's so crappy about the cables?

    Hi DindDong,

    Thanks for the clarification. Maybe i'm just overly fussy, the cables are really thin and pre terminated. I reckon they wouldn't be well shielded but I
    am guessing. I have lot's of other feeds close to there and am conscious of interference.

    They are perfectly fine for short lengths MAJJ.
