Long-lasting make-up

I'm getting married in a few months and want to invest in some long lasting make-up. I will be doing my own make-up, so I'm looking to get some foundation, blusher and eye-shadow that will last the day. I tend towards a little shine on the nose - should I get some powder to carry around with me? I want to carry as little as possible in my beautiful beaded vintage bag!

I don't wear make-up day to day, and when I go out I wear No7 as it is grand for the few hours (no point in paying big for make-up when I never wear it but would be happy to shell out for wedding and honeymoon)! I want to keep it very natural looking - I have good skin so I don't want to look caked! Would appreciate any advice - thanks!

estee lauder double wear is long lasting (up to 15 hours)..
if you want a lighter one i was in the other day and they have a (new?) double wear light - might be worth looking into :)

Beaut.ie just did a "Reader Rated" on foundation, I haven't got around to reading it yet (:o) but it might help:

AFAIK, you can get blotting paper stuff to stop shine, but I don't have that problem, so I don't know much about them. Prehaps look into them? :D

And enjoy the day - at the end of it, I doubt you'll be too concerned about your make-up :D

oh yea for shine i use rimmel clear complexion powder in translucent - its abut 7E and does the job :D.. it doesnt come with a sponge or snything so i apply it with a powder puff on my t-zone (dab it, dont rub) and then a powder brush all over my face

If you want long-lasting eyeshadow, go for one of the more expensive brands like Lancome or Clinique. They are more highly pigmented and can last ages without being redone.

Mac blot powder is good for cutting down shine.

i find urban decay shadows last long - plus you can get them in sets (i lovee the set in the black box)..

and just remembered i have a thing by clinque pore minimiser - really works to stop shine..

I use this powder as well. Keeps the shine off and the make up on!

Why don't you get your make up done for the day?

Anyway, I'd recommend a good primer and then Estee Lauder Double Wear. Use an eyshadow primer also and make sure to blend well.

For the eyeshadow I would recommend going for Lancome or Mac. I wear both of these daily and they are both always there at the end of the day.
For blush I would go with Lancome mousse blusher I find it brilliant.

yeah me too. Try a primer and double wear the light one its new not as heavy coverage and the rimmel powder should do the trick

To make eyeshadow last use an eyeshadow primer, like Urban Decay Primer Potion or Too Faced Shadow insurance :) Set your foundation with powder to make it last longer, some people use a face primer too but I haven't tried this myself so can't comment.

I'd go with Too FAced Shadow Insurance! The two are practically the same only UDPP comes in the most awkward packaging ever, and half the product goes to waste!

Also, on the face primer front, I'd go with SmashBox Photo Finish Face Primer - this stuff is amazing! Your make up will stay on, and it makes your skin feel lovely!

I agree with all of this. I would recommend getting your make-up done by someone else, even if it's a friend who's good at make-up doing it. Have a trial run. It's your wedding day so you should be getting pampered!

Double Wear is good as it's long lasting. Clinique also do a long lasting one. Get samples first and try them out and see if they suit your skin. The Double wear is quite heavy so I'd advise using the lighter version.

As said before Lancome and MAC are good for high pigmented eyeshadows. Go for matte shadows for a natural look.

Mac do great blushers but I love the maybelline souffle blushers too. Give a natural colour to your cheeks.

I plan on cutting open my UDPP and scraping out the extra, I asked for a little jar at the Urban Decay counter and they gave it to me no problem.
Was going to recommend the Smashbox but didn't want to without having tried it myself! I've heard good things though.

I was planning on doing that too, but it just seems like an awful lot of effort to have to go to! I don't understand why UD haven't changed the packaging yet. Anyway, before you start chopping an decanting, you may want to consider this:

Also, you should definitely try the Smashbox primer - I love it, and it really does work! :D

+1 for the Estee Lauder Double Wear. I got recommended it after asking a make-up artist for something long-lasting and have thought it was great ever since. I have good skin too so only need to use it- with a brush- on the T-zone and with a bit of benetint on the cheeks, loose Rimmel powder to set and some nice eyeliner I'm set!

Foundation: Chanel Vite Lumiere - beautiful flawless finish, I bought it a few months ago and have got loads of compliments about my complexion - chanel does a really good primer as well.

Eye Shadow: Mac or Benefit crease free shadow is the best - will last all day

Best of luck with the big day....;)
