I have put together my Planet X bike, but I am having a hell of a time getting the chain to shift onto every cog on the cassette, if I make an adjustment on one side, I lose it on the other, and I have not been able to run through ALL the gears. I have a feeling that I may have cut the chain a bit too short, would this affect the movement on the rear derailleur

Built one of these before christmas.
Detailed instructions on proper chain length and derailer adjustments came with mine. If not, check correct chain length as follows.
Shift chain to large front chainring and smallest rear sprocket. Now tension pulley wheel should be directly beneath guide pulley wheel on derailer.

I think I sorted it out, fiddly things to set up from scratch. My problem was in the cable tension, and limit adjustment. I was having trouble getting the lowest and highest gear but all in between were fine. I spent the best part of yesterday at this.Everytime I got frustrated, I went away and had a cup of Tea.I even watched the Man U v Everton game and got even more frustrated (I'm a Liverpool fan, sorry Dirk). But at around 11;30 last night I gave it one more go, and voila.........................now to fine tune the front mech....................the joys of owning bikes:D
