Interested in a court case which i think took place in 1894. Are there records available for that year and are they accessible to joe public?

    Accessibility might be an issue!

1894 is great, as it turns out, it was a busy year!

More detail, case name, issue etc.

Not finding anything. Try physical Irish reports.

The law society might be able to assist you. They have a good library and are very helpful

I agree 100% with these comments, but would also point out that the Law Society's library is a private library exclusively for the use by solicitors and trainee solicitors, so it will only be of assistance if you are either a solicitor or a trainee otherwise you can forget it.

I just looked in the Irish Reports (physical) 1894, 1895, 1896 and 1897. That case does not appear. Sure the name is correct?

    tom,
yeah the name is definitely correct-very unusual double barreled name-came across him in a history project and have been hunting around for more information. he left the coombe in controversial circumstances and possibly sued them-there is a single line reference in google books to the suit of john colclough hoey which i would take to be a legal term.
Again thanks for all your help.

i'll have another look, may be it's merely Hoey. I was looking for Colclough and Coombe. The online databases are not bringing it up.

Can you post up the Google link?

    Ta.

    tom,
for the life of me i cannot find that reference in google books- i presume they removed it-it was a reference from a medical journal scanned on to google books from harvard university-1893 was the year he left the coombe so a law case in 1894 was possible-at this stage either paranoia or amnesia is setting in.
