Positioning an Oil tank

    Well,
We are getting close to the finish with our new build,
I was just wondering does it matter where the oil tank goes outside the house?
Id rather keep it away from the house, possibly down behind the garage which would mean it might be 40 or 50 feet from the house,
    Is this a problem?
    Thanks

    Hi Ashfield
No problem putting behind garage. You will be feeding your by gravity flow.
Make sure the base of the tank is min 750mm higher than the burner on boiler. Build base for it . Buy some 12mm hydrodare feed the oil line through it protection in case someone goes digging in garden bury the lot about 450mm in ground.

I would recommend putting it somewhere secure. There are alot of dodgy f*ckers driving around with oil tanks and pumps in the back of vans draining as many oil tanks as they can.
So behind the shed possibly in a little secure enclosure would be an idea.

It doesn't really matter where the oil tank is placed. However high up is best to get a gravity feed to the boiler so if you have a naturally high site that might suit. Otherwise you will need a tiger loop incorporated into the system.
Obviously somewhere secure but also easy access for the oil truck to refill is important.
You don't want the oil man dragging the hose over flowers or through a pond or whatever you plan to have in the future.
