Does anyone know where the cheapest place I could pick up a Fender Telecaster? Would it be on thomann or somewhere else?

I got mine at a better price than thomann off guitar.co.uk, probably better now that the pound is down but i havn't checked prices in a good while. Good service and fast shipping too.

Musicstore.de has some good prices too, but shop around.

Maybe be a bit more specific as to what telecaster?
And +1 to buying in the UK. Although the sterling isn't as weak as it was only a few weeks ago.

Well I'm taking up guitar and want to get a good versatile guitar so I thought of a Telecaster. Which Telecaster would you recommend? My budget is about 550 euro.

Is that budget for guitar and amp? or just guitar?
What kind of music are you into?

That budgets just for the guitar. I'm into lots of different types of music from indie to trip hop to alt hip hop but mostly indie rock.

+1 to that choice, gorgeous guitars. And a Tele definitely seems to fit the bill as far as what tones you'd want out of it. Possibly a highway one tele too, although the Japanese Fenders are probably better made.

I recommend the Baja Tele. It's ludicrously cheap at the moment.

The baja teles are excellent alright

Also dont discount the early 90's mij Squier silver series teles if you come across one.

They are some guitars for the budget model, you'd prob get one for 300-350

How much would a baja tele cost?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,625 ✭✭✭flyswatter

Ok looks like a Baja tele would cost 459GBP (523euro, including 40GBP delivery) on guitar.co.uk. Can anyone outline the differences between a Standard and a Baja tele?

i had one of those baja telecaster and loved it,the difference is they have custom shop pickups, vintage hardware and as it has an s1 switch in the volume button which gives you i think(if i remember right)6 difference pickup configurations as opposed to 3 on a regular tele.all in all a great guitar.

So worth the extra 20euro for a baja rather than a standard then?

i thought so,the best thing is to play both of them(i saw both of them in shops in town)goodwins on capel street has them, and see what you think.there was a fairly thick neck on the baja, cant remember if the rest of them have the same.

The Baja is about €460 on soundslive.co.uk . Check it out there. I think it's a far better option than the Standard Tele.

Thanks. Thats 10 pounds cheaper than on guitar.co.uk. Depends what the postage is on soundslive.co.uk is though. It's 40 pounds on guitar.co.uk.

If you've got any mates who are decent at guitar, keep your eyes peeled for good deals on ebay and, in particular, adverts.ie.

The beauty of buying second hand is that if you decide after a few months to change guitar, you should be able to recoup approx the amount you paid for it.

I got a Fender American Standard Tele delivered from America for €660. It's three years old but it's perfect!!!

Damn, all the prices for the Baja have gone up over the last few days. On GAK it was only 400GBP but now its 459. Cheapest now is on soundslive.co.uk, with postage adds up to about 517euro.
