so, pi$$ed off that sky do nothing for their loyal customers, i rang up last week to cancel (under the guise that wife would then sign up for sky +)

I got the cancellations dept in cork and spoke to a nice girl who asked me why i was cancelling. i replied that sky wont give me plus for the same price as a new customer, which i thought was unfair. i told her if they would, i would stay. she then conferred with a supervisor who, rather than let me go, agreed to give me the offer price. i took this offer and told them i would call back to order it when i got paid.

Roll on today when i get paid and i call back to order. i spend a fair amount of time being passed from dept to dept (there seems to be no menu shortcut for people in my position) but when i finally get someone, there is no problem ordering. she then says that due to all the installation bookings the next date i can get is either march 13 or 14, but they will waive the installation fee due to the long wait. i tell her i will call back to confirm a date, and she debits my laser €24.90

after checking that march 14 suits me, i call back to confirm it. i get a different chap who suddenly tells me he has dates free in feb. so i opt for feb 14th, a full month closer.

so there you go, an existing sky customer, gets upgraded to plus for the special offer price, with no installation fee. and gets the date moved up.

a combination of luck and brass neck pays off sometimes!

The Irish call centre are rubbish.
I've rang them a few times ,hopeless bunch, rude, unprofessional and ignorant.
The Scottish call centre are far superior although I cant seem to get through to them anymore.

They have you tied in for another 12 months now, automatic when you upgrade to Sky+
They dont give anything for nothing.;)

Well done! I got a free dish replacement recently but like you, I had to threaten to cancel my account. I have been with Sky since '03, so as a loyal customer I felt I deserved it :P I might get back on to them and push for the Sky plus too :D

I've been with Sky since the Premier league started in 1992 and i tried that as well and it worked although i had to pay the installation, total cost €74.90.The install was 4 days after my call and i got a reference number in case there was any problems!
