Playstation 3 Freezing?

Anyone experienced this? Anyone know what to do?

Mine since about after 7 or 8pm has pretty much stopped working.
I play COD4(which I hear is prone to f'n up) and FIFA 09 online.
Younger bro plays Fallout 3 and Smackdown vs Raw 09.
Older bro plays a few others games but only for one night.

Anyway yeah, so I was playing late afternoon today, it was working fine without a hitch. Had some dinner. Turned it on after 7pm and suddenly it just stops reading the discs(all of them!)

Maybe 1 out 20 attempts I'd get COD4 working but as soon as I press the PS button to send a msg or check out what my mates are playing, IT FREEZES!!! :mad:

Even the demos or Playstation HOME don't bleeding work :rolleyes:

The internet browser works fine and dandy though. So does the friends list so long as I check that first, though there are times where it does freeze once a msg is finished and I'm sending it...

I've heard of similar things happening but with some code error or some other bollocks I'm not sure about but this seems different for the obvious fact I don't recieve a code.

Oh and before anyone asks... the discs are in grand condition. COD4 has some minor blemishes but nothing major. FIFA and the rest are spotless.

Any help would be useful.

Complete reset of all PS3 settings through System Settings might do something.

Demos and Home freezing as well? Thta's odd. If it was the disc problem alone, I'd say it was BROD, but it obviously isn't.

Besides PS Shop, have you downloaded anything, or put any new programmes/videos/etc on it? Because if it were a PC, I'd say it was a virus, so maybe thats what it has?

If it is, a complete reset might do the trick.

Of course, that's assuming it is a virus.

(Sorry if my response sounds a bit wierd. I've been watching House a lot, so I'm kind of approaching the problem from that direction).

I have never downloaded anything of it. I made the link with a virus myself but I doubt it.

I'll try the complete reset.

Just one thing though, if I reset everything will I lose all my stats picked up in say COD4 and the like?

Oh and btw, anyone know if there is a Sony Playstation Helpline for Ireland or do I have to go through the UK service center?

I've been having the same kind of problem, a full system reset wont fix it mate i've tryed everything.

But that still goes to the UK call center. Ireland do have a Playstation department [but no idea of what they do] but Customer Care / Technical Support is based in UK.
